New Visual Arts Center Grand Opening Celebration April 21

The new Visual Arts Center at Anoka-Ramsey Community College offers view of the Mississippi River.

The public is invited to attend the grand opening of the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Visual Art Center, Thursday, April 21, 4 to 8 p.m.

Visitors are invited to view the new 28,976 square-foot building through self-guided tours while art faculty and students offer live demonstrations in the glassblowing, photography and ceramics studios.

Located along the scenic Mississippi National River Recreation Area, this facility gracefully extends the campus footprint in a way that maximizes daylight, minimizes site disruption and provides stunning river views from many of the studios and dramatic gallery spaces. The design, inspired by industrial architecture–with exposed steel structure and mechanical systems, concrete floors and large expanses of glass–provides a minimalist backdrop for the studio and gallery space.

• Open House 4 to 8 p.m.; Ceremony 7 p.m.
• Take a self-guided tour
• Watch studio demonstrations by students and faculty
• Peruse the student art displays throughout the building
• Listen to student-led musical ensembles
